LAMARKISM (1809) Jean-Baptiste de Lamarck gave the Idea that an organism can pass a characteristic that it acquires during its lifetime to its offspring also known as heritability of acquired characteristics).
Lamarck's theory of evolution was published in philosophy Zoologique and had four propositions.
- Living Organism and it's parts trends to increase in size due to the internal force of life.
- Formation of new organs as a result of a new need and new involvement.
- Individuals lose characteristics that they do not require (or use) and develop characteristics that are useful.
- Individuals inherit the traits of their ancestors.
